The great thing about meditating is that you can do it anytime and anywhere. You can meditate outdoors or indoors. In a private setting or a public setting. The options are endless and it’s up to you to decide how to carry out your meditation practice.
It’s very common to create a meditation room or sacred meditating space in the home. Creating that special mediation room will help you to relax and unwind and ease naturally into your meditation practice. What works for your friend or colleague might not necessarily work for you, so take the time to get in touch with yourself and figure out what suites you best!
When creating your special meditation room, take the time to think about what colors relax you? Maybe you prefer plain white or a mint green. Or maybe you like dark, deep colors like burgundy or forest green. Whatever the anwer, know that the choice is yours! Have fun with it and don’t be afraid to step outside the box to create a space that is uniquely yours. Color therapy might be something that will help you with your paint decision so make sure to do some research if this sort of thing interests you.
Another thing to consider is furniture and accessories. Do you want to sit on the floor, on a mat, on a chair, on a couch? Again, there are multiply options here so choose the one that’s best for you!
And don’t forget to think about lighting for your meditation room. Do you prefer bright light, dark light or medium light when you meditate? Maybe candle light is the perfect lighting for you. You might not know the answer to this question immediately, so don’t be afraid to play around with lighting until you find what’s best for you!
Creating a meditation room will enhance your meditating experience and will allow you to reap all of the benefits of meditation in a calm, peaceful setting. And remember, there are many places to meditate and there is no right or wrong. There’s just a “right for you!”
